Arvind Jadhav has taken over as the new Chairman and Managing Director of National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL), the company created after the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines. Jadhav was earlier Principal Secretary, Infrastructure Development Department, Government of Karnataka. Born on June 5, 1956, he did his post graduation in Geography after graduating from Kanpur University. He did his MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Curtin, Perth, Australia, where he was awarded Gold Medals for being the ‘Best All-round Student’ and for attaining distinction in ‘Strategic Management’. Jadhav also holds post-graduate diplomas in International Trade from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion from the Italian Institute of Foreign Trade, Rome. Jadhav joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1978 and belongs to the Karnataka cadre. He is taking over at a time when the airline is reeling under severe losses due to the collapse of the global aviation industry. His predecessor, Raghu Menon, lost his job because he was unable to control the losses.
